Newcastle United Unveils Nostalgic ’95 Collection, Inspired by the 1995-96 Season

Newcastle United has taken a step back in time with the release of a limited-edition collection of apparel inspired by the attire worn by the club during the 1995-96 season. The Newcastle United ’95 Collection features a variety of era-appropriate apparel, including a faithful reproduction of the Toon’s cult classic 1995-96 Adidas away shirt.

The original kit was worn by Kevin Keegan’s side, including the likes of Les Ferdinand, David Ginola, and Faustino Asprilla, in the season that saw “The Great Entertainers” stage an epic tussle with eventual champions Manchester United in one of the great Premier League title duels. Although the Magpies missed out on the title in the end, the kit remains a beloved part of the club’s history.

The ’95 Collection: A Nostalgic Tribute to the Past

The Newcastle United ’95 Collection is a nostalgic tribute to the past, featuring a variety of era-appropriate apparel, including the iconic away shirt. The maroon and blue horizontal hoops still look as good as ever, as does the ecru button-up crew collar and the Newcastle Brown Ale rounded logo that adds that extra bit of vintage luster to the mix.

Alongside the reissued shirt, the heritage collection also features a couple of reproduction ’90s training tops that use the same heavy fabrics and design template as the originals, including V-shaped striped panels on the chest and dashes of the same instantly recognizable shade of maroon that features on the jersey.

The collection is set to be released on January 13th, and fans can get a sneak peek of the apparel on the club’s social media channels. As Newcastle United tweeted, “Back from the archives. back on the Tyne. ✨🖤🤍 Introducing the Newcastle United adidas 95 Collection, available 13th January.” The club also shared a photo of the collection, captioning it “Stepping back into the 90s and looking good lads! 📸”

A Modern Take on a Classic Design

The original 1995-96 away kit was revisited with the club’s 2024-25 away kit, which was a modernized version of the same design. However, the ’95 Collection offers a more faithful reproduction of the original kit, making it a must-have for fans who want to relive the nostalgia of the past.

The collection is a great example of how football clubs can tap into their history and heritage to create unique and appealing apparel. By drawing inspiration from the past, Newcastle United has created a collection that is both nostalgic and modern, making it a great addition to any fan’s wardrobe.
