NHL Stanley Cup Odds Update: Colorado Avalanche Take Top Spot

The National Hockey League (NHL) season is in full swing, and the odds for the Stanley Cup have seen some significant changes since the start of the season. As of November, the Colorado Avalanche have taken over as the favorites to win the championship, with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Carolina Hurricanes, and Vegas Golden Knights closely behind. The Avalanche are also the odds-on favorites to win the Presidents’ Trophy as the regular season points leader, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have been on a tear in January, winning 13 of their past 14 games, with the only loss coming in overtime. This hot streak has propelled them to the top of the Eastern Conference favorites, surpassing the Carolina Hurricanes. The Lightning’s impressive performance has also improved their odds of winning the Stanley Cup, making them a strong contender for the championship.

Eastern Conference Contenders

The Detroit Red Wings have been performing well, with an impressive 11-4-1 record in their past 15 games, which has propelled them to second in the Atlantic Division and third in the Eastern Conference. Their odds of winning the Stanley Cup have shortened from 90-1 to 65-1, making them a dark horse contender. The Red Wings will face off against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday, with the Wild being slight -142 moneyline favorites.

The Washington Capitals are currently fourth in odds to win the Eastern Conference, thanks in large part to the outstanding performance of Logan Thompson, the top-ranked goalie in ESPN Fantasy hockey. Thompson’s impressive play has been a key factor in the Capitals’ success, and they will look to continue their strong performance as the season progresses.

Western Conference Contenders

The Dallas Stars are currently +660 to win the Western Conference and 35-1 to win the Central Division, second behind the Colorado Avalanche. They sit third in the NHL weekly Power Rankings, making them a team to watch in the Western Conference. The Stars will look to continue their strong play and make a push for the playoffs.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are currently 50-1 to snap their Cup drought, after opening the season at 16-1. The New York Rangers are 300-1, after opening at 30-1, and the Boston Bruins sit at 250-1 after opening the regular season at 100-1. These teams will look to turn their seasons around and make a push for the playoffs.
