Formula 1 boss Stefano Domenicali has addressed concerns from drivers over the new rules implemented in the sport, stating that he is certain Max Verstappen will not quit due to the changes. The new rules, which feature engines with a 50/50 split between internal combustion and electrical power, have been met with criticism from top drivers, including Verstappen, Fernando Alonso, and Lewis Hamilton.

Verstappen has likened the new cars to those used in the all-electric series Formula E, calling them “anti-racing.” Alonso has also expressed concerns, stating that the cars have become too dependent on energy management, making it possible for anyone to drive them without issue. Hamilton has also weighed in, saying that a university degree is required to understand the new rules.

Driver Concerns and the Future of F1

Despite the concerns from drivers, Domenicali remains optimistic about the future of F1. He has met with Verstappen and other drivers to discuss their concerns and is working with the FIA and manufacturers to address the issues. Domenicali has guaranteed that Verstappen will stay in the sport, citing their good relationship and Verstappen’s love for F1.

The new rules have also raised concerns about overtaking, with multiple drivers expressing worries about the difficulty of passing on the track. The lengthy process of getting the new turbo power units up to speed has also led to tests of an elongated start procedure to combat fears of multiple cars being left stationary on the grid.

While the season has not yet begun, Domenicali is confident that the technical solution will help teams and drivers adapt to the new rules. He has referenced past instances where new regulations have been met with criticism, only to be proven successful in the end.

As the season approaches, F1 fans will be watching closely to see how the new rules play out. With the Australian Grand Prix set to take place on March 8, drivers and teams will have to quickly adapt to the changes in order to be competitive. Despite the concerns, Domenicali remains positive, stating that the sport has always proven to be resilient and adaptable.

For more information on the new F1 rules and the upcoming season, visit the official F1 website or follow reputable sources such as ESPN and BBC Sport. With the season just around the corner, fans can expect an exciting and unpredictable year of racing.
