Empowering Women in Golf: Mastercard Hosts Exclusive Clinic with Shiv Kapur
New Delhi, March 15, 2023, witnessed a significant milestone in the promotion of women in sports as Mastercard organized a specialized workshop for aspiring women golfers with iconic Indian golfer Shiv Kapur. The event, titled Mastercard ‘Golf Clinic’, was held at the prestigious Delhi Golf Club, where Kapur shared his expertise with 25 young players, providing them with a comprehensive overview of the game.
The selection process for the clinic was unique, with five participants chosen through a social media contest hosted by Mastercard exclusively for aspiring women golfers. This initiative is part of Mastercard’s broader effort to strengthen the Indian sports ecosystem and encourage young women to excel in golf. According to Mastercard, promoting gender equality in sports is essential for fostering a more inclusive and diverse sporting community.
Expert Guidance and Mentorship
During the event, Kapur led a knowledge-sharing session, focusing on the right posture, techniques, and equipment, to help players improve their game. He then proceeded to the practice driving range, where he demonstrated how to putt the golf ball effectively. This hands-on approach allowed the young golfers to learn from one of India’s finest golfers, gaining invaluable insights into the game.
“India has a rich history of producing talented golfers, and it’s heartening to see the next generation of players showing such promise. I’m confident that with the right guidance and support, Indian golf has a bright future ahead,” said Shiv Kapur, leading Indian golfer and Arjuna Award winner. Kapur’s involvement in the clinic underscores his commitment to giving back to the sport and nurturing young talent.
Mastercard’s Commitment to Women in Sports
Mastercard has consistently demonstrated its dedication to supporting women in sports through various initiatives. Earlier this year, the company hosted a successful ‘Cricket Clinic’ for aspiring under-19 women cricketers with former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. These efforts reflect Mastercard’s mission to empower women and promote gender equality in sports. As stated by Manasi Narasimhan, Vice President & Head of Marketing & Communications, South Asia, Mastercard, “We believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to pursue their passion, and we are committed to creating a more inclusive sporting ecosystem in India.”
Through such initiatives, Mastercard is not only promoting women’s participation in sports but also providing them with the necessary tools and resources to excel. By partnering with renowned athletes like Shiv Kapur and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Mastercard is helping to create a positive impact on the lives of young women golfers and cricketers, inspiring them to reach their full potential.
