Alcaraz, 22, took to social media to express his gratitude to Ferrero, saying “After more than seven years together, Juanki and I have decided to bring our chapter together as coach and player to an end.” He went on to thank Ferrero for “turning childhood dreams into reality” and praised their time together, both on and off the court. Alcaraz also wrote a post in Spanish, stating “Es muy difícil para mí escribir este post… Tras más de siete años juntos, Juanki y yo hemos decidido poner fin a nuestra etapa juntos como entrenador y jugador.”

Ferrero, a former world No. 1 and French Open champion, had been guiding Alcaraz since he was 15 years old. During their time together, Alcaraz became the youngest player to reach No. 1 in the ATP rankings after winning the US Open in 2022 at 19. Ferrero recently won the ATP’s Coach of the Year award, along with Samuel Lopez, who joined Alcaraz’s coaching team in 2025.

A Successful Partnership

With Ferrero, Alcaraz achieved tremendous success, including two French Open titles, two Wimbledon crowns, and two US Opens. He also amassed 24 tour-level titles, including eight Masters 1000 trophies. In the 2025 season, Alcaraz had a career-best and season-leading 71 match wins and claimed eight titles. Ferrero’s coaching played a significant role in Alcaraz’s development, and their partnership will be remembered as one of the most successful in recent tennis history.

Ferrero also released a statement on social media, saying “Today is a difficult day. One of those when it’s hard to find the right words. Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when there are so many shared experiences behind it.” He expressed his desire to have continued as Alcaraz’s coach and is convinced that “good memories and good people always find a way to cross paths again.”

A New Chapter for Alcaraz

Alcaraz’s decision to part ways with Ferrero marks the beginning of a new chapter in his tennis career. While the reason for the split has not been disclosed, it is clear that both parties have decided it is time to move on. Alcaraz has expressed his gratitude to Ferrero and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors. As Alcaraz looks to the future, he will undoubtedly be seeking a new coach to help him continue his success in the tennis world.
