Arman Tsarukyan Reveals He Was Denied Lightweight Title Shot Ahead of UFC Qatar Fight

Arman Tsarukyan, a rising star in the UFC lightweight division, has made a startling revelation about his recent fight against Dan Hooker at UFC Qatar. According to Tsarukyan, he was informed before the bout that he would not be granted a title shot, even if he secured a highlight-reel finish. This news has sparked a heated debate among fans and pundits, with many questioning the UFC’s decision-making process.

Tsarukyan’s victory over Hooker was impressive, with the Armenian fighter submitting his opponent in the second round. After the win, Tsarukyan called out lightweight champion Ilia Topuria, but it seems that the UFC had already made up its mind about the next title contender. Topuria has since announced a hiatus from fighting due to personal reasons, leaving the division in a state of flux.

Paddy Pimblett’s Title Shot Was Already Sealed

Tsarukyan has revealed that he was aware of the UFC’s plans to give Paddy Pimblett the next title shot, regardless of his performance against Hooker. “Before the Hooker fight, they told me even before the fight, ‘Pimblett will fight for the title next and not you, even if you win by the most beautiful KO. Pimblett will still fight for the title before you,'” Tsarukyan stated. This revelation has led to speculation about the UFC’s motivations and whether the organization is prioritizing profitability over merit.

Tsarukyan has taken a philosophical approach to the situation, acknowledging that the UFC is a business and that decisions are often made with financial considerations in mind. “It’s a business. We need to understand that and wait for our chance. There are no hidden reasons,” he said. Tsarukyan also pointed out that the UFC has continued to support him, giving him an easy fight and easy money, renewing his contract, and providing a bonus after his win over Hooker.

What’s Next for Arman Tsarukyan?

Tsarukyan is now gearing up to serve as the official backup for the UFC 324 interim lightweight title fight between Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett. If Topuria is stripped of his title and the Gaethje vs. Pimblett bout becomes an undisputed title fight, Tsarukyan could potentially get the title shot he desires, fighting the winner of the UFC 324 headliner. With his impressive skills and growing fan base, Tsarukyan is certainly a contender to watch in the lightweight division.

As the UFC navigates the complex landscape of its lightweight division, fans will be eagerly watching to see how the situation unfolds. With Tsarukyan waiting in the wings, the possibility of a title shot is still very much alive. As the Armenian fighter continues to train and prepare, one thing is certain – he will be ready for his chance to shine when it finally arrives.
