Rogers, 34, brings a wealth of experience to the Blue Jays, having led the major leagues in pitching appearances this year with 81 games played for the San Francisco Giants and the New York Mets. The Mets acquired Rogers on July 30, 2025, in a trade that included pitchers Jose Butto and Blade Tidwell, along with minor league outfield prospect Drew Gilbert. Since 2020, Rogers has made 403 appearances and pitched 406 1/3 relief innings, leading the majors in both categories.

With a career ERA of 2.76 in 420 games for the Giants (2019-2025) and the Mets, Rogers has established himself as a reliable and effective reliever. His impressive track record and versatility will undoubtedly be valuable assets to the Blue Jays’ pitching staff. As noted by MLB.com, Rogers’ ability to pitch in a variety of situations will be a significant boost to the team’s bullpen.

Contract Details and Roster Moves

The Blue Jays’ contract with Rogers includes a 2029 option, providing the team with flexibility and security in their pitching staff. To make room for Rogers on the roster, left-hander Justin Bruihl was designated for assignment. This move demonstrates the Blue Jays’ commitment to strengthening their pitching staff and competing at the highest level in the American League.

As reported by ESPN, the Blue Jays’ aggressive approach to building their pitching staff has been a key focus of their offseason strategy. With the additions of Cease, Ponce, Lee, and now Rogers, the team is well-positioned to make a deep run in the playoffs. Fans and analysts alike will be eager to see how these new additions perform and how they will contribute to the team’s success.
