Tyson Fury Announces Return to the Ring with April Fight Against Arslanbek Makhmudov

Tyson Fury, the former heavyweight world champion, has confirmed his return to the ring with a highly anticipated fight against Russian boxer Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11. The announcement was made by Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, on Wednesday. The fight will be streamed on Netflix and promoted by The Ring Magazine.

The news comes after Fury’s latest retirement announcement in January 2025. However, earlier this month, he declared his intention to return to boxing, and now, the details of his comeback fight have been revealed. Fury will face Makhmudov in the United Kingdom, although the exact location is yet to be confirmed. “Excited to be back. Heart’s always been and always will be in boxing. Someone go tell the king that the ace is back!” Fury exclaimed.

Tyson Fury will return to the ring in the U.K. in April.

Fury’s Opponent and Fight Details

Makhmudov, a Russian boxer based in Canada, has a record of 21-2 with 19 knockouts. He was rumored to be in line to fight Fury following his impressive win over British heavyweight Dave Allen in October last year. The fight will be Fury’s first in the United Kingdom since December 2022, when he beat Derek Chisora for the third time, defending his WBC title.

Fury then fought three times in Saudi Arabia, beating Francis Ngannou in October 2023 before back-to-back fights against Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight championship. Usyk won both fights on points in May and December 2024, respectively, becoming the first undisputed champion of the four-belt era. Fury announced his retirement following the second clash with Usyk.

Netflix’s Involvement and Broadcasting

The fight will be the first live event taking place in the United Kingdom that Netflix will broadcast. The streaming service is also filming with Fury and his family for the second season of the show “At Home with the Furys,” which is set to be released later this year. This partnership marks a significant move for Netflix into the world of live sports broadcasting, and fans can expect a high-quality production.

With Fury’s return to the ring, boxing fans around the world are eagerly anticipating the upcoming fight. The event promises to be an exciting matchup between two skilled boxers, and with Netflix’s involvement, it’s expected to reach a wider audience than ever before.
