Matt Brown Expresses Skepticism About the UFC White House Card

UFC veteran Matt Brown has voiced his doubts about the upcoming UFC White House Card, questioning whether it will live up to the hype as the best card ever. In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Brown shared his concerns about the event, citing the lack of star power in the UFC and the potential absence of Conor McGregor from the card. Brown stated, “They don’t have the stars that they used to have, and Conor’s not fighting on it. I don’t give a f*ck what anybody says. I don’t care what he says. I don’t care what Dana says. They’re using him to promote it and using his name to get it out there… He’s not fighting on that sh*t, bro, and even if that is signed and a done deal, I’m not going to believe it until he is inside the octagon and a punch is thrown.”

Matt Brown Expresses Skepticism About the UFC White House CardConcerns About American Champions and Fight QualityPredictions for the Main Event

Brown’s comments come as the UFC prepares to host a historic event on the South Lawn of the White House, with a reported 6-7 fights scheduled to take place. However, Brown believes that this limited number of bouts is a risk, given the unpredictability of the sport. “I think that’s a risk to take to only be doing 6-7 fights because you know the sport. You can get 6-7 boring fights real easy. I can’t think of 6-7 fights that are that gigantic,” he said.

Concerns About American Champions and Fight Quality

Brown also expressed his concerns about the lack of American champions in the UFC, which could impact the event’s appeal. “I think the even bigger issue is they can make some pretty significant, good fights but what about Americans? It’s at the White House. That’s the problem, they have so few American [stars]. That’s a problem. Unless they just go ahead and say you know what? F*ck whether it’s American or not, we’ll just make it international, which is what I think you almost have to do, and the UFC is an international sport,” he stated.

Despite these concerns, Brown did suggest a potential superfight between Jon Jones and Alex Pereira, which could be an exciting addition to the card. However, he believes that Jones would likely take Pereira down and finish him quickly, potentially making for a less-than-thrilling fight. “Unless you get Jones and Pereira as the main event, which even then, is it going to be an exciting fight? Is Jones not going to f**king take him down and finish him in a minute or two? Jones is not going to f**k around with him on the feet,” Brown said.

Predictions for the Main Event

According to Brown, a title unification bout between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje is likely to serve as the main event for the UFC White House Card. “Ilia, you know he’s going to be fighting Gaethje on that card [UFC White House] for sure. I think that’s pretty much a done deal. That’s probably going to be your main event,” he predicted.

While the UFC White House Card has generated significant buzz, Brown’s comments highlight the challenges and uncertainties surrounding the event. As the UFC continues to promote the card, fans will be watching closely to see if the event lives up to its promise as the best card ever.
