Week 15 of the 2025 NFL Season: Eagles and Falcons Secure Crucial Wins

The 2025 NFL season is heating up, and Week 15 has been filled with exciting matches. The week began with an NFC South game between the Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night. The Falcons emerged victorious, thanks to a field goal by kicker Zane Gonzalez as time expired, securing a win led by three touchdowns from tight end Kyle Pitts Sr.

In the early window on Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles bounced back from a disappointing five-turnover performance last Monday with a shutout win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Tight end Dallas Goedert finished with a team-high two touchdown grabs and 70 receiving yards, handing the Raiders their eighth straight loss. The Eagles’ quarterback, Jalen Hurts, had a notable performance, throwing three touchdowns and helping his team strike a nice balance between the run and pass.

Eagles’ Performance and Future Prospects

The Eagles’ win over the Raiders was a much-needed boost to their morale and playoff hopes. According to ESPN, the Eagles’ coaching staff made some key adjustments, including feeding running back Saquon Barkley to achieve a better balance between the run and pass. The team also showed creativity near the goal line, resulting in a pair of Dallas Goedert scores. This performance has raised questions about whether the Eagles have finally found their footing, especially with quarterback Jalen Hurts at the helm.

One of the most surprising performances of the game came from Brandon Graham, who came out of retirement earlier this season and led the team with two sacks against the Raiders. At 37 years and 255 days old, Graham became the oldest player in Eagles history to record a sack, as reported by ESPN. The Eagles’ next game is against the Commanders on Saturday, December 21, at 5 p.m. ET.

Raiders’ Struggles and Coaching Future

The Raiders’ loss to the Eagles marked their eighth straight defeat, raising concerns about the team’s competitiveness and the future of coach Pete Carroll. The Raiders have been shut out twice this season, a feat that last occurred in 2006. With the team’s current performance, it seems unlikely that Carroll will survive the season as the Raiders’ coach. The Raiders’ next game is against the Texans on Sunday, December 22, at 4:25 p.m. ET.

Quarterback Geno Smith’s health will be a crucial factor in determining his role for the rest of the season. In his absence, Pickett started against the Eagles but failed to add a spark, completing 15 of 25 passes for 64 yards and an interception. The Raiders need to reassess their strategy and make necessary changes to turn their season around.

Falcons’ Victory and Playoff Hopes

The Falcons’ win over the Buccaneers has significant implications for their playoff chances. With the Panthers having two head-to-head games remaining against the Buccaneers, the Falcons’ chances of winning the division are still alive. However, the team needs to maintain their momentum and secure more wins to stay in contention. The Falcons’ next game is against the Cardinals on Sunday, December 22, at 4:05 p.m. ET.

Tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. had an outstanding performance, with 11 catches for 166 yards and three touchdowns. This surge in form may have earned him a lucrative contract next year, especially if he continues to perform at this level. Edge rusher James Pearce Jr. also had a notable game, with two sacks, extending his streak of at least one sack to six games.

Buccaneers’ Disappointing Loss

The Buccaneers’ loss to the Falcons has dealt a significant blow to their playoff hopes. With the Panthers having a crucial game against the Saints, the Buccaneers’ chances of winning the division have dropped to 35%, according to ESPN Analytics. The team needs to regroup and focus on their upcoming games to stay in contention. The Buccaneers’ next game is against the Panthers on Sunday, December 22, at 1 p.m. ET.

The Buccaneers’ defense struggled, surrendering a season-high 476 yards of total offense to the Falcons. This performance has raised concerns about the team’s ability to compete against top-tier teams. The Buccaneers need to address their defensive issues and find a way to turn their season around.
