Dominik Szoboszlai Reveals Ongoing Contract Talks with Liverpool
Dominik Szoboszlai, the talented midfielder, has confirmed that discussions regarding a new contract with Liverpool are currently underway. However, the Hungarian international has emphasized that no decision has been made regarding his future with the club. Szoboszlai’s impressive form this season, with six goals and four assists in all competitions, has sparked speculation about his potential to become a future Liverpool captain.
When questioned about the progress of his contract negotiations, Szoboszlai stated, “There is always progress, but no decision has been made, and I’ll just keep on going every week, every training, giving my best for the team, for the fans. Let’s see what is going to happen in the future.” He also acknowledged the constant media attention surrounding his contract situation, saying, “You guys in the media make a lot for the [public] and you keep on going because that’s your job, but there have been talks, but for sure, no decision has been made.”
Szoboszlai expressed his happiness with his current situation at Liverpool but also recognized the unpredictable nature of the football world. “Of course, I am happy here, but you know how football works, and that is something everybody has to take into account,” he said. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Szoboszlai remains committed to performing at his best for the team.
Challenging Week for Szoboszlai
Despite his impressive performances this season, Szoboszlai has faced a challenging week. He missed a penalty in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Burnley and was criticized by Barnsley boss Conor Hourihane for attempting a backheel inside his own penalty area during an FA Cup tie. Szoboszlai defended his actions, stating, “For me, personally, it’s a tough one. I made a mistake against Barnsley, but I have to make it clear it wasn’t disrespectful in my opinion, and I would do the same against Arsenal, City, and against Chelsea as well.”
Szoboszlai acknowledged that he needs to learn from his mistakes and move forward. “You have to forget it, that’s the best, but of course, you have to have learned from it. To be honest, if you see me after every session, I cannot practice more — and I’m not allowed to practice more because I’m practicing as much as I can. I will keep on practicing, and if I have another chance, I will take it,” he said.
Upcoming Champions League Match
Liverpool will face Marseille in the Champions League on Wednesday, and Szoboszlai recognizes the importance of the match. “It is very important,” he said. “We have to look at the game that it is a big chance to take a big step towards the top eight. If you look at the whole season, we have so many games, so if you are in the top eight, you miss two, and that is very important. We have to be ready because we face a really good team.” With a positive result, Liverpool can boost their hopes of automatically qualifying for the knockout stages.
